At 2:00 pm on September 5, invited by Prof. Qiang Zhou, Dr.Sungchil Yang, from City University of Hong Kong ,gave a talk titled "a molecular substrate of response enhancement in a sequence: its role in perceptual learning" 。

Dr.Sungchil Yang's research interest is how a neuron processes environmental inputs in order to  produce behaviorally relevant outputs. With combination of various modern techniques, such as 3D digital holography ,two-photon imaging,voltage-senstive dye imaging, and in vivo whole-cell recording,it aims to explore that how the brain neurons optimally captures and modifies information, which may be beneficial to several brain diseases researches ,including seizure, depression, schizophrenia, neuropathic pain ,and tinnitus. In this report,Dr.Sungchil Yang generally introduced to us that sequence-sensitive response enhancement and short-term postsynaptic plasticity play an important role on perceptual learning. At first, he gave some basic  knowledge on perceptual learning, and then showed us a deeper exploration on SSRE and STPP with in vitro and in vivo techniques. At last, he mentioned that SSRE and STPP may be related with schizophrenia pathogenesis. After the report, the professors and students had an active discussion on related problems.
