th, Dr. Zhou Yongjui from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences visited our school and brought us an excellent report.
Dr. Zhou’s group studies homogeneous asymmetric catalysis, and mainly focus on asymmetric hydrogenation of heteroarenes. The conventional methods to construct a heterocyclic compound are asymmetric cyclization, tendem reactions and so on. Otherwise, Dr. Zhou’s group synthesized heterocyclic compounds throuth asymmetric hydrogenation of heteroarenes, such as quinoline, isoquinoline, pyridine, indole. Dr. Zhou ‘s strategies of asymmetric hydrogenation, concluding substrate active, catalyst active and relay catalysis, are used in the synthesis of alkaloid and some medicines. In this report, Dr. Zhou told the development, mechanism exploration and application of his strategies.
