Academic Position
The University of Macau is a leading higher educational institution in Macao and is making strides towards becoming internationally recognized for its excellence in teaching, research and service to the community. The University is growing rapidly with a number of new strategic initiatives including the relocation to a new campus and the establishment of the largest Residential College system in Asia. The new campus will be 20 times larger than the present one with a projected fast growth of student intake and faculty size. English is the University’s working language and its major medium of instruction.
The University of Macau is inviting applications for the following positions of Director, Veterinarians, Technicians, Research Assistants and Animal Caretakers for the Animal Facilities associated with the newly established Faculty of Health Sciences. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
1.Applicants should possess a master degree or above in life science, or veterinary research field for the Director position and a veterinary doctor degree for Veterinarian position. They should have relevant knowledge on animal husbandry and working experience in animal facility, especially mouse facility management.
2.Applicants for the Technician/Research Assistant position should possess a bachelor degree or above and have experience in transgenic and knockout mice production, especially in oocyte and/or blastocyst microinjection.
3.Applicants for Animal Caretaker positions should possess senior high school graduate qualification or above, preferably with experience in animal handling and husbandry.
Responsibilities
1.To develop and manage the University animal facilities;
2.To establish and maintain a high standard animal service for UM;
3.To provide support for research involving using animals;
4.To provide training to UM users or students on animal handling and use;
5.To produce transgenic and/or knockout mice;
6.To maintain daily operation of the animal facilities.
The selected candidates are expected to assume duty as soon as possible.
