Dr. Chang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy, Investigator and Coordinator of Research Centre of Heart, Brain, Hormone and Healthy Aging, Investigator and Executive Management Committee Member of The State Key Laboratory of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. Dr. Chang is also the Founder and Secretary of HKU Alzheimer’s Disease Research Network.
 
Dr. Chang did his doctoral training in neurophysiology and clinical neuroscience at the University of Munich, Germany, from 1994-1997. He continued his postdoctoral training in neuropharmacology and molecular neuroscience at National Institute of Health in the USA from 1997-2000. During that time, he received the Visiting Research Fellowship Award and the NIH Fellow Award for Research Excellence by the National Institutes of Health. He then moved to The University of Hong Kong as Research Officer in 2000, became Research Assistant Professor in 2001, Assistant Professor in 2005, and Associate Professor in 2012. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed publications and 9 book chapters in neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology and drug discovery. His h-index is 32 from Google Scholar. Dr. Chang is currently the Scientific Advisory Board member of the International Alzheimer’s / Parkinson’s diseases Symposium, Scientific Review Committee for Alzheimer Association in USA. He is the handling associate editor for Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, and Section Chief Editor for Journal of Neuroimmune Pharmacology. He is also a member of editorial board of more than 16 journals.
