Andrew Lee MD PhD is an Associate Professor at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and is the Deputy Director of the SMART Hong Kong – Macau – Guangdong Greater Bay Area (GBA) International Clinical Trial Center. He also holds a joint appointment in the Institute of Cancer Research, Shenzhen Bay Laboratory. Andrew received his B.S. from Yale University, and his MD and PhD degrees from Stanford University. He completed his medical residency at Stanford Hospital in the Department of Clinical Pathology, where he focused on clinical manufacturing of cell / gene therapies for first in human clinical trials.

Andrew's research interests focus on advancing cell and gene therapies into first in human clinical trials. He has published over 60 manuscripts on clinical applications of new cell / gene therapy modalities, and contributed to the first US FDA IND approval for a pluripotent cell therapy product. Andrew's research has published in Cell, Nature Medicine, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Biomedical Engineering, JAMA, and Circulation. According to Google Scholar, he has been cited over 11,000 times with an H-index of 50. Andrew's research has received support from the American Heart Association, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and several of the global top 10 pharma companies.
